Position Summary Information

Basic Function

The HCCAP Coordinator is responsible for coordinating college access resources in a strategic, efficient and effective manner. The HCCAP Coordinator is a key connection between local school districts, the HCCAP Focus Group, the Hillsdale County Early Middle College, and local employers. This is a grant funded, part-time position – for a minimum of 2 years.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Encourage and support prospective students postsecondary aspirations
• Knowledge of the competencies and skills required for college and career readiness
• Work with students and working-age adults to ensure student awareness of, access to, and utilization of HCCAP support services for postsecondary educational opportunities
• Work collaboratively with local district counselors and community partners, to engage partner interaction and ongoing HCCAP support
• Establish a regular and positive working relationship with local district’s secondary student populations
• Serve as the HCCAP representative for development and facilitation of career access planning presentations and events to students, parents, local school districts and the community
• Work with all Hillsdale County 9th grade students on Career Cruising, or equivalent program, aimed at initial development of a career pathway
• Coordinate 10th grade tours, providing awareness of job and career options that exist in Hillsdale County and beyond
• Coordinate 11th grade college and career tours, targeted at specific career pathways
• Maintain current knowledge of Hillsdale County employment opportunities and connection to college career pathways
• Advise students regarding college admissions, financial aid, career services and other related topics and processes
• Develop and maintain effective communication systems among network partners
• Collaborate daily with LeTarte staff to meet prospective student needs
• Attend conferences and meetings to stay current on state and national educational trends
• Schedule, coordinate and facilitate quarterly HCCAP Focus Group meetings
• Responsible for understanding, supporting and actively demonstrating the College’s beliefs, values, mission and vision and being in agreement to be evaluated by same

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or five years or more of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from four-year college or university preferred.
