Position Summary Information

Basic Function

Responsible for general cleaning duties at the Clyde LeTarte Center in Hillsdale, minor maintenance of college building, and minor grounds work. Assists with snow and ice removal during winter months.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary duties include:

• Sweep, mop and dust interior areas of buildings, wash walls, windows, woodwork, furniture and light fixtures; vacuum and clean carpet; empty waste containers and dispose of waste materials; clean and sanitize restrooms, and drinking fountains; changes light bulbs and batteries.
• Clean entrances to building including hand shoveling snow, and applying salt as needed.
• Unlock/lock and secure interior rooms in buildings.
• Exterior cleaning – parking lot, lawn, flower beds.
• Keep cleaning supplies stocked and ordered.
• Responsible for understanding, supporting and actively demonstrating the College’s beliefs, values, mission and vision and being in agreement to be evaluated by same.

Other duties:
• Clean air vents throughout facility include restrooms, as needed.
• Paint walls, doors, trim and ceilings.
• Install chalkboards, tack boards, plaques, signs, pictures and any or all other wall hangings.
• Minor wall repairs such as nail holes; masonry and gypsum drywall.
• Snow removal by use of hand shovel and salt spreader.
• Help setup/strike for events.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Completion of a one-year certificate from college or technical school.
  • Six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
